We arrived at the Acacia Tree Nursery School Market on the 13th of December 2014, in Chintsa West, just before 2pm. The annual Moonlight Market was starting at 4pm but it takes us about 2 hours to set up our market stall nicely.

We had a good Christmas market sales day, with sales of R1 035. Our market costs were R50 for the stall space fee, and R75 for petrol for the car for the trip there and back.

There weren’t actually all that many market stalls at the 2014 Acacia Tree Nursery School annual Moonlight Market, at least not as many as in December 2013, but we made more money at this one, and the atmosphere was still very festive.

We enjoyed watching Tom’s Circus performance while listening to the delightful children’s story being told at the same time. The story matched the circus performance and we and everyone there delighted in seeing Tom and the Tom’s Circus children walking on the tightrope, walking on stilts, doing somersaults and cartwheels, hula hooping and entertaining us all in a number of amazing ways.

Tony and a number of other fellow marketers tried out the stilts after the circus performance, and didn’t do too badly on those stilts! These brave marketers looked like they belonged in the circus, especially Tony with his brightly coloured pants.

As it grew dark, various kinds of lights lit up the market stalls. The place looked a little like a fairy land, and definitely had an atmosphere to match. It felt like we were in a fairy tale.
All too soon, it was time to pack up, and it was only then, near our car in the dark area at the back of Acacia Tree Nursery School that we noticed the beautiful night sky. We could see so many stars in the clear night sky. Being out at Chintsa West for the afternoon and evening had been so worth it for us, for many of the other market sellers who were there, and for all the visitors to the Moonlight Market at Acacia Tree Nursery School.

Even if you don’t have kids, who would have an absolute ball at this annual market, be a kid yourself and be sure to be at the next annual Moonlight Market at Acacia Tree Nursery School in Chinsta West, in December 2015.
