South Africa’s School Term 1 is over. What now?

The tests are written.

The results are coming. And June exams are exactly 10 weeks away. Here's what the window between now and then actually looks like — and why it matters more than most parents realise.

The gap nobody talks about

Term 1 ends with a test week, not full examinations. That distinction matters. Test week results are a diagnostic, not a verdict. They show you where the gaps are while there's still time to close them.

Most parents see a bad mark and feel a vague, uncomfortable guilt — and then do nothing, because "exams are still far away." They're not. Ten weeks goes faster than you think.

The students who perform well in June aren't smarter. They're just earlier. They started closing gaps in April, not cramming in May.

"Panic is not a study strategy. Starting now is."

What the exam calendar actually looks like
Here's the honest timeline between now and the end of the year for NSC learners:

Now — late March

Term 1 tests wrap up. Results trickle in. The gaps are visible if you're looking.

28 March – 7 April

School holidays. The single best uninterrupted study window before June.

June

Mid-year examinations. For matrics, these count. For all NSC learners, these set the tone for the second half of the year.

October – November

Final NSC examinations. For matrics: this is it. Everything from the whole year lands here.
That school holiday window at the end of March is quietly the most valuable two weeks of the academic year. It's the last real breathing room before the June pressure builds. Most families use it to decompress. The students who use even part of it to consolidate Term 1 material arrive at Term 2 ahead of the curve.

One subject at a time

The mistake most learners make is trying to study everything at once, producing that familiar cocktail of overwhelm and avoidance.

Nothing gets done because everything feels too big to start.

The better approach: one subject, one gap, one focused run at it. That's the philosophy behind the Beachy Studio NSC study guides.

Each guide covers a single subject — structured, focused, designed to work on a screen without the friction of a textbook.

Not a course. Not a subscription. Not a platform you have to learn before you can learn. Just the content your child needs, available immediately, for R80.

What R80 actually buys you

Less than a single tutoring hour.

Less than a tank of petrol to drive to that tutoring hour.

Less than the electricity bill for the panic-studying that happens the week before exams.

One guide. One subject. One clear run at the content before the pressure hits.

We're not here to replace teachers or tutors. We're here to give learners something they can work through on their own terms, at their own pace, before the urgency makes everything harder.

The window is open now

If Term 1 flagged something — a subject that struggled, a concept that didn't land, a mark that surprised you — Term 2 is where you fix it.

Not May. Not the week before June exams. Now.

The guides are at beachy.co.za/our-shop. R80 each. No subscription. Yours to keep.
