Description

Build the handbook your team will actually use

I spent years writing documentation that no one read.

It wasn’t bad writing. It just wasn’t the right *shape*. I wrote long paragraphs, full explanations, careful context. And when someone needed an answer — right now, in the middle of something — they’d skim, get frustrated, and just ask me instead.

That’s when I realised: a handbook isn’t a book you read. It’s a tool you consult.

The shape of a reference handbook

A good reference section answers the question in the first sentence. No preamble. No “in this section we will explore”. Just the answer, then maybe a table or a bullet list if it helps.

A good step-by-step section has numbered actions. One per step. No theory. How, not why.

A good troubleshooting section follows a pattern: Problem → Likely Cause → Fix. Repeat until the reader can solve it themselves.

And a band-aid section? That’s for crisis mode. Thirty seconds. Bullet points. Bold the critical word in each line. No “it depends.”

I built Handbook Studio to enforce these shapes without you thinking about them.

How it works

You open the app, fill in your handbook details — title, audience, skill level. You can add reference resources if you want the AI to know about specific materials.

Human in the Loop

I embrace human-in-the-loop AI because the best results happen when human judgment and creativity guide the machine, not the other way around. My apps use AI to accelerate thinking and reduce friction, while keeping people firmly in control of the final decisions, direction, and meaning.

Then you generate a structure prompt. You copy it, paste it into ChatGPT or Claude or whatever you use, and the LLM sends back a JSON outline with chapters, sections, and section types.

Paste that outline back into Handbook Studio. The app reads it, builds a grid of every section, and generates the first writing prompt.

Every prompt is different because every section type is different. A reference prompt says: lead with the answer, use tables, no essays. A band-aid prompt says: start with “RIGHT NOW:” and give three bullet actions.

You copy the prompt, paste it into your LLM, copy the response, paste it back. Save. Move to the next dot on the grid.

No order required. Jump around. Finish the easy ones first.

Export and print

When every section is saved, you export a single HTML file. Open it in any browser. The sidebar lets you jump between chapters and sections instantly — exactly how a reference tool should work.

Then File → Print. Save as PDF. Print on A5 paper. Fold it, staple it, put it next to the printer or in the classroom drawer.

One price, one Time – Yours Forever

R500.00. Windows installer. Portable App. and PWA (Progressive Web Application). All in your download. No subscription. No cloud account. No data leaves your machine except when you paste prompts into your LLM.

You can download the app, build your handbook, and keep the installer forever. Use it once or use it for ten different handbooks — same price.

Try it

If you answer the same questions every week, build a handbook and point people there instead.

If you manage a team and need everyone on the same page without constant interruptions, build a reference they can consult.

If you just like making tools that actually help people, you’ll enjoy using this one.

Use HandBook Studio as a business – create Handbooks for clients, and to sell!

Your team will still ask questions. Just fewer of the same ones.
